EMMURE - GOODBYE TO THE GALLOWS

Release : 6/3/07
Genre : Metalcore/hardcore
Country : United States

Emmure , with their debut Album "Say Goodbye to the Gallows" is quite a stunner for a debutant.Emmure's music comprises mixed elements of hardcore, emo, punk, and even death metal to produce a hard and heavy sound that will make your parent’s ears bleed. Emmure is a band that play melodic metalcore, they sound almost like The Acacia Strain, only The Acacia Strain never added the melodic part to their band but mind you ! Emmure is no rip off band .This is also the album that i keep listenin to very often as its one of the years best so far with brutal riffs and harsh vocals with pretty intense breakdown in the guitar and some pretty simple drumwork, then the vocals come in , which makes the album stand apart from their
counterparts .The only downside being ,only 10 songs and total play time not exceeding 30 minutes but overall in my opinion this is a solid debut from Emmure and i highly recommend this album to everyone. If you enjoy parkway drive or my bitter end then this album sure deserves its place in your rack.

HASTE THE DAY - PRESSURE THE HINGES

Release Date: 20/3/07
Genre : Metalcore
Country : United States

Haste the Day was recently faced with one of the hardest transitions imaginable: losing a front man.New front man Steve Keech has a much different scream than Jimmy Ryan, but it brings the sound together to form a much more mature blend than before.Musically the band is at a new level, as their riffs, solos, and overall construction has improved drastically. Things sound more inspired, more melodic, and even create some pleasant atmospheres. If it's breakdowns you are looking for, Haste the Day has lived up to the Solid State standard of heavy bass break beats, but dispels any thoughts of repetitive hardcore with clean vocal melodies. For longtime Haste the Day fanatics, this is not the band you heardon Burning Bridges, but they still offer gritty guitars and dirty screams. This record isexactly what Haste the Day needed in response to their recent lineup change . Full of variety and new sounds, Haste The Day’s newest release should satisfy older fans and evendraw in some new ones as it seems to get better with every listen.

CALIBAN -THE AWAKENING

Release Date : 04/28/2007
Genre : Metalcore
Country : Germany

The german Quintent's 6th studio album may seem like a replica of the previous album butfrequent listening will diversify both and infact this album emerges as a better one .Caliban left the intense musical style of hardcore and traded that for a more melodic metalcore sound,so it can be unbearable for many.At first all the tracks may sound similarbut dont get fooled easily As there are a bunch of awesome tracks , Choruses have alwaysbeen Caliban’s thing, and here they take on what they do best.Few tracks incorporate groundbreaking rffs and some smooth vocals which is a treat for caliban fans .Compared to theprevious album you can notice considerable maturity in all aspects be it the vocals and the breakdowns. But in my opinion ,there is a lot of talent wasted and caliban could have made this albumeven more bettter but if you want to enjoy thick, melodic metalcore cd, you definitely will enjoy 'The Awakening'.
ATREYU - THE BEST OF ATREYU

Release Date: January 23, 2007
Country: United States
Genre: Metalcore/emo

Best Of’ compilations, in my mind, have always been reserved for legends. Artists like Led Zeppelin and Megadeth have grounds to release one or two but why the hellwould a band like Atreyu ever think of realsing one ? well Rumour has it that its a move to end the contract with the Recording Label , but its least of our worries isnt it ?All in all, The Best Of Atreyu is a below mediocre attempt. There are hardly 2 or 3 tracks thats worth listening to ,where "Bleeding Mascara " being my personal favourite. No catchy riffs , poor screaming and low end bass all combine together for a perfect disaster.People unfamiliar with Atreyu get a chance to listen to their "best songs" on one CD and experience atreyu's so called attempt with hard edged riffs and breakdownsAs per the Metalcore scene you can see most of the lead singer's change their vocal style and mature from the previous album but thats not the case with Alex a.k.a the main man of Atreyu ,in my view his screaming is getting deitorated day-by-day. Alex's vocals sometimesmake you choke and get a feeling that even you can scream better than him , which you surely can ! Best of, or Least Awful. You be the judge.
